From the creators of Savage 2 comes forth Heroes of Newerth.
Heroes of Newerth is a game that falls under the newly minted DBG genre.
For those unbaptized, DBG stands for DotA Based Games - standalone games based upon the popular Warcraft III mod: DotA All-Stars.
Since S2 Games is an independent gaming company, they have done their marketing for the game employing tactics on the KSP Challenge handbook.
Zero money has been spent on mainstream marketing but the game has gained a huge following.
So far, HON (Heroes of Newerth) has around a hundred thousand fans on Facebook alone.
What they've done:
1) giving away closed beta keys on various blogs/gaming websites
2) being very visible on social networking sites
3) staying away from purchasing advertisements
4) making the game available to rabid Linux and Mac fans
